Doodhpathri

        Doodhpathri (translation; Valley of Milk) is a tourist destination and hill station in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.It is located in Budgam district of Jammu & Kashmir. Situated at an altitude of 8,957 ft from sea level, and located at a distance of 42 km from state summer capital Srinagar and 22 km from district headquarter Budgam. The name “doodpathri” means Valley of Milk. It is said that the famous saint of Kashmir Sheikh ul Aalam Sheikh Noor din Noorani has prayed here and once when he was in search of water in the meadows, to offer prayers, he pricked the ground with his stick to search for water and milk came out. He asked the milk that you can only be used for drinking and not performing ablution. Hearing this milk at once changed its state to water and the meadow got its name Doodpathri. The water which is at present flowing through the meadows has a milky appearance from the distance and remains very cold throughout the year. The lush green grasses over the vast meadows and silver shining streams running over the large stones further increase its beauty. Doodhpathri is sloping grassy landscapes with a diversity of multicolored flowers up to Chang. The famous Tosamaidan lies in the west of Doodpathri.

 

Tomb Of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din

        Tomb of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din, located 28 km from Srinagar at Chrar-e-Sharif, is popular as Alamdar-e-Kashmir or the flag-bearer of Kashmir. It is dedicated to Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani (RA) who spread the religious message of Islam in the valley of Kashmir. Coins were issued in his name after his death by Atta Mohammad Khan, the governor of Afghan. Sangram Dar, who was a disciple of Alamdar-e-Kashmir, constructed a mosque here. Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani would pray every Friday in this mosque only. Legend has it that after Alamdar-e-Kashmir died, his coffin descended at this site after flying for sometime.

Nilnag Lake

        A high-altitude lake, Nilnag nestled amidst dense pine forest is one of the top places to visit near Yusmarg. The blue water of this sparkling lake and the picturesque surroundings of towering pine trees and snow-capped mountains makes this place a must-visit.

        Nilnag offers a great opportunity of trekking to adventure lovers. The trek goes through a picturesque pine forest through which run many streams of water. It is a beautiful yet steep uphill trek to Nilnag Lake that does make for some incredible memories.

Sukhnag Falls

        Sukhnag or the spring of solace was initially known as Sokhanag. It is a beautiful spring located close to Tosamaidan in the Budgam district. This spring takes the form of a 20 ft high waterfall at a place called the Kanj Zubji, before uniting with other smaller waterbodies. The major source of the Sukhnag is the Ahij stream, which flows between big boulders. The spring is further separated into various other springs, such as the Sona Maen Kol, Lar Kol and Mala Kol.

Naranag

        Naranag is located almost 50 kilometers from Srinagar in Ganderbal district on the road to Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir. It’s a place blessed with such beauty that it belongs in your dreams. Tucked cozily in the mountains and encircled by dense forests, it is the kind of place that photographers are always on the lookout for. One of the famous tourist attractions of Naranag is the Naranag Temple built in the 8th century, much of which lies in ruins today but is great for sightseeing. The village here serves as a base camp to Mount Harmukh, Gangabal & Satsar. River Wangath, a tributary of River Sindh, flows through the village, and right beside it is a glacier. Coming across this sight will relieve you from all your inner worries and stress.
