Jamia Masjid

        The most important building of Shopian town, religious as well as archaeological reasons, is the Jamia Masjid, situated in the centre of the main market of Shopin. lt has a courtyard, arched entrances and spires like the Jamia Masjid of Srinagar, but the entire edifice is only 65 years old.

        Jama Masjid mosque is said to have been built during the Mughal period. Shopian was an important stopover on the Mughal road across the Pir Panjal used by the Mughals to visit Kashmir. The earlier and old mosque was also built on road side on a sloping and dominating height. The mosque was gutted repeatedly. The style and design of old mosque was resembling with Tibetian Pagodas but contrary to it the floor of the mosque was straight sloping- covered wih clay spread over the burza. The wooden work in the interiors of the mosque was a master piecce which had pinjrakari and jafri and the timber used was wholly of Deodar species.

Peer Ki Gali

       The Pir Panjal Pass, also called Peer Ki Gali (or Peer Gali),  is a mountain pass and a tourist destination, located in the Pir Panjal Range in Jammu and Kashmir. A great deal of significance lies in the form of Mughal Road, a highway of great historical importance across the Peer Panchal Ranges. The Mughal Emperors after whom the road is named, used to visit the valley via this route through the apple town of Shopian. A sarai(resting place) at Shadmarag is still witness to the grandeur of Mughal carvans passing through this road. It connects the Kashmir Valley to the Rajouri and Poonch districts via the ‘Mughal Road’. It is the highest point on the Mughal road at 3,490 m (11,450 ft) and lies to the south west of the Kashmir valley

Aharbal Waterfall

       It is also known as “Niagara Falls of Kashmir”, is a hill station in the south-western part of Kashmir Valley in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, south of the summer capital of Srinagar . The place is quite peaceful and suitable for expeditions, trekking, photography, and fishing. Due to mesmerising look of meadows, pine and fir tree forests, the abutting snow clad mountains, the waterfall attracts many Indian and international tourists.

Kousarnag

       The kousarnag lake is situated in the Pir Panchal range at a heigh of 4000 metres above sea level to the south of Shopian. It is about 5 KMs long and 3 KMs wide and is the source of river Vishav. It is at a distance of 34 KMs from Shopian. Its blue, rippling water reflects the lofty snowy speaks surrounding the spring
